Historic Bremen had its annual meeting last night, and former auto mechanic and police chief Jim Brown gave the talk. He told a little about his childhood—including scrounging scraps out of the Kimble’s trash so he and friends could wrap their bike handlebars in mink fur—and his various jobs through the years—including the fact that the police department is the only place he ever worked that is still in business.

Below, at left, Jim Brown in the police department in 1971, and at right, Jim (with pipe) and chief Dick Tyson mull over the very best of the cow chips available at the 1982 Oktoberfest cow chip throwing contest.
